Position 1: PhD scholarship in Nanomechanical Sensors

Responsibilities and tasks 
The Nanoprobes group at DTU Nanotech seeking for a PhD student for three years to work in a project focusing on development of nanomechanical sensors (resonators) and applying these for the study of molecular actions and cellular processes related to drug delivery.

The main task of the project is the development and use of resonator structures for photothermal spectroscopy. String and membrane like resonators with antenna structures will be fabricated. Additionally, a dedicated experimental set-up needs to be developed and applied in primarily basic biological research.

Qualifications

1. Hold a master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, X systems, nanotechnology, mechanical or material engineering.
2. previous work experience regarding nanosensors and/or microfabrication will be beneficial.
3. Experience within some the following areas:
4. Micro- and nanomechanical resonators
5. UV, IR or Raman spectroscopy
6. SERS, SEIRA effects, or familiar with plasmonics
7. Micro- and nanofabrication techniques

Position 2: PhD position in Surface-Enhanced Raman Scattering Sensors

 Qualifications

1. Master’s degree (or equivalent) in physics, nanotechnology, mechanical or material engineering.
2. Previous work experience in nanosensors and/or microfabrication
3. It is important to have experience in some of the following:
4. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy
5. SERS-based molecular detection techniques.
6. Nanoplasmonics; fabrication of plasmonic structures for SERS
7. Raman or other spectroscopy instruments, spectral analysis
8. Nanofabrication techniques, clean-room experience is a plus
9. Microfluidics
