East Asia Institute; Fellows Program, South Korea

East Asia Institute (EAI) located in Seoul, South Korea, invites applications for its Fellows Program on Peace, Governance, and Development in East Asia. Fellows Program targets East Asia experts with cutting-edge expertise in political science, international relations, and sociology for an international exchange program with the aim of advancing interdisciplinary research with a comparative viewpoint in the study of East Asia.

About the Program:

EAI Program is intended to give the Fellows the flexibility required to bring out the best of their specialized areas in seminars and lectures. Fellows select the subjects of their articles, seminars, and lectures within the widely defined themes of peace, governance, and development in East Asia in order to make the visit an integral part of their on-going research. The associate Institutions are the EAI (Seoul), Fudan University (Shanghai), Keio University (Tokyo), National Taiwan University (Taipei) & University in Beijing.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be East Asia specialized scholars
  • Scholars from all over the world who are involved in conducting the research in fields of political science/international relations/sociology may apply.
  • PhD or other relevant qualification is required.

Selection:

  • 5-6 Fellows will be selected in 2022.
  • The Selection Committee, comprising of representatives of each associate Institution plus an advisor who is a member of EAI’s international advisory board, selects awardees through a rigorous evaluation process.
  • Selection Committee looks for path-breaking research.

Award:

  • USD 6,000-10,000/Fellow.
  • Grant covers expenses for the article, seminar, and lecture as well as the cost of ground transportation, round-trip economy-class international air flight, hotel accommodation, meals, and a per diem for a total of two-week (or three-week) stay in East Asia.
