The Munich Center for Economics of Aging (MEA) at the Max Planck Institute for Social Law and Social Policy studies is inviting applications for a Eperical Economist as a Researcher for the research unit “Old-Age Provision and Social Policy” (“Alterssicherung und Sozialpolitik”).
About the research:
- The center evaluates, anticipates and accompanies the micro- and macroeconomic aspects of demographic change
- The Researcher (m/f/d) should have sound knowledge of econometrics and applied microeconomics as well as good knowledge of the German social security system, especially in the field old-age provision and long-term care.
- Experience with micro data sets is especially welcome.
- The candidate will start as soon as possible and the employment contract will be for two years.
- The selected candidate will work on empirical research questions concerning actual demographic and political development in Germany.
- The research fields are: retirement decisions, pension reform evaluation, insurance options, savings behavior, provisions for long-term care, and similar questions.
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold Diplom, Master or Ph.D. or close to finishing PhD in Economics or a related field,
- Strong interest in public economics and economic policy analysis,
- Sound knowledge of advanced econometrics and causal inference methods,
- Experience in handling large micro data sets,
- Programming experience in STATA (or similar software), MatLab.
- Fluency in English is required.
