A scholarship opportunity is available for a PhD student in the field of Epidemiology to study the effects of interpregnancy interval on newborns & maternal health effects. The PhD research is an important part of a larger nationally (NHMRC) aided research project on providing an verification base for improved World Health Organisation suggestions on birth intervals. The PhD research is a secondary data analysis project that does not require further compilation of data. All health & medical related reports have already been collected and are ready for analyses in electronic format. The successful candidate has to work under the supervision of Dr Gavin Pereira, School of Public Health in collaboration with the Telethon Kids Institute.

Qualifications:
- Honours (First class)/Master degree by Research/Master degree with >25% research component with high academic performance
- Candidates are invited from those with a degree in statistics/biostatistics, epidemiology, public health, or from a quantitative/data science.
- A candidate with strong background in biostatistics or epidemiology will be preferred
- Those candidates having experience with statistical software, particularly R, are encouraged to submit an application.
