ETH Zurich: Two PhD Positions Mass Spectrometry 2168 views

Research group of Prof. Renato Zenobi at the Laboratory for Organic Chemistry, ETH Zurich invites applications for two (02) PhD Positions in the field of Mass Spectrometry

 Field of Research: The topics of the PhD theses will be in one of the following areas;

  1. Matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization (MALDI) mass spectrometry, assisted by high-mass detection and chemical cross-linking to investigate large proteins and multi-protein complexes,
  2. Membrane-bound proteins and protein complexes,
  3. Application of native electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectrometry to study noncovalent interactions, especially of complex biomolecular systems with cofactors and multiple ligand binding sites. We work mostly with ESI-MS titration and competition methods.

Requirements / Qualifications:

  1. Prerequisites are a M.Sc. degree, Diploma or equivalent in Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Biochemistry or any related area,
  2. Strong interest in the development and application of modern instrumentation.

The Starting date is as early as May-June 2018 (position is available immediately), or upon mutual agreement.

Application Procedure: Please send your updated CV, your publication list / transcripts and grades received, alongwith two letters of recommendation to Prof. Renato Zenobi at zenobi@org.chem.ethz.ch
