Overview:

Colorado Mesa University is particularly interested in candidates who have experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and who have a demonstrated commitment to improving the levels of access and success for underrepresented students within higher education.

About the position:

  1. This full-time instructor (non-tenure track) will be responsible for teaching lower division lecture and laboratory courses.
  2. A face-to-face 100-level lecture course and several labs will be included in the teaching load.
  3. The standard teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester; some assigned courses may be taught on-line, hybrid, or via distance delivery modalities.
  4. This position is for the Spring 2021 semester only.
  5. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibility satisfactorily.
  6. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Eligibility criteria:

Required:

  • Master’s or Ph. D. in chemistry or a closely related discipline.
  • Ability and desire to teach lower-division chemistry lecture and laboratory courses
  • Effective teaching, enthusiasm for working with and an ability to inspire undergraduate students, and effective communication skills are required

Preferred:

  • Experience as the instructor of record for collegiate-level chemistry
  • Experience teaching general chemistry lecture and lab
