Join the UK’s leading nuclear waste research team! We have an exciting opportunity in the Nucleus Immobilisation Science Laboratory, in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at The University of Sheffield, for someone with a passion for nanoscale microscopy, looking to use their skills in material characterisation to make an impact on the safe disposal of nuclear waste.
Eligibility Criteria:
- We are seeking a Research Associate with a PhD (or be close to completion) in chemistry, physics, materials science, geosciences or a similar discipline (or with equivalent experience) to develop and implement a research program to develop detailed insight to the micro / Nano-scale structure of model UO2 materials, at the grain boundaries and within the UO2 lattice, as a function of do pant type and concentration.
- You will have technical experience in analysis of materials by transmission electron microscopy and associated chemical and diffraction analysis methods and knowledge and experience of working with radioactive materials. You will also have effective communication skills.
