Gujarat Biotechnology University (GBU), a new post graduate university established by the Gujarat Biotechnology University Act 2018 (in a unique collaboration with world-leading University of Edinburgh). GBU invites applications from exceptional scholars as founding faculty. Applications are especially encouraged from candidates whose research are translational and has high potential of product, process or prototype development. GBU aims to launch MSc by Research and PhD programmes from August 2021.

Requirements:

Professor

  • An eminent scholar having a Ph.D. degree in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Marine Biotechnology or allied area.
  • The candidate should be actively engaged in applied research on plant biotechnology as evident from a substantial publication portfolio of high quality, actively engaged in research with a significant international / national reputation, ideally 10 papers, upto six in highly rated publications.
  • A Master’s Degree in Plant Biotechnology or allied area with at least 55% marks in related science or technology discipline (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed); and
  • Approximately 10 years teaching experience in university/college as Assistant Professor/ Associate Professor/Professor, and/or research experience at equivalent level at the University/National Level Institutions with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate; and
  • Evidence of successfully securing substantial international and national research grants OR
  • An outstanding research professional with approximately 10 years industrial research experience, having a Ph.D. degree in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Marine Biotechnology or allied area and with significant patent outputs as an inventor, and who possess evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate.

Associate Professor

  • A person to be qualified to be appointed as an Associate Professor should either have a consistently strong academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Marine Biotechnology or allied area.
  • The candidate should be actively engaged in applied research in biotechnology; and a Master’s Degree in in Plant Biotechnology or allied area with at least 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point-scale, wherever the grading system is followed); and
  • Approximately eight years teaching experience and/or research in an academic/research position equivalent to that of Assistant Professor in a University, College or Accredited Research Institution/industry with a strong publication record in peer reviewed journals, ideally eight publications; upto four in highly rated journals and
  • A robust research portfolio with evidence of funding and research leadership OR
  • An outstanding professional with industrial research experience of approximately eight years, having a Ph.D. degree in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Marine Biotechnology or allied area as evident from research publications and preferably two granted product patents as an inventor, and with evidence of having successfully guided doctoral candidate.

Assistant Professor

  • A person to be qualified to be appointed as an Assistant Professor should be either grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed) in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Marine Biotechnology or allied area and Allied Area from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
  • A strong academic record, with a Ph.D. Degree in Plant Biotechnology, Animal Biotechnology, Medical Biotechnology, Industrial Biotechnology, Environmental Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Marine Biotechnology or allied area.
  • The candidate should be actively engaged in applied research in biotechnology with approximately two years of post-doctoral experience.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong publication portfolio in peer reviewed journals, with ideally two publications in highly rated journals OR an outstanding research professional with industrial research experience of approximately two years, having a Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology and allied area as evident from research publications and preferably one granted product patent as an inventor.
