Herbert Hoover Travel Grant Award for Researchers, USA 2260 views

The rationale of the Herbert Hoover Travel Grant Award is to support travel to the Herbert Hoover Presidential Library in West Branch, Iowa. The Hoover Presidential Foundation is a nonprofit support group for the Hoover National Historic Site in West Branch & Hoover Presidential Library Museum.

The program, funded completely through donations from private individuals, corporations & foundations, is exclusively intended to endorse the use of collections of the Herbert Hoover Library.

Eligibility

• Graduate, postdoctoral scholars & independent researchers.
• Aspirant shall contact the archival organization to determine if Library assets are pertinent to his/her research study. Finding aids for library’s main holdings are available online.

Awards

All funds awarded should be spent for travel and research expenses associated to the use of the holdings of Library. In recent years, awards have ranged from $500 to $1,500/ applicant. The establishment will consider desires for extended research at the library. An autonomous committee of eminent scholars from Iowa colleges and universities evaluates the research proposals.

• CV
• Letters of reference (3 in number) to be sent directly from writers who are familiar with your work.

Note: Review committee does not assess applications which do not comprise three reference letters which are sent separately from the application form. It is the candidate’s liability to make sure these letters have been sent to and acknowledged by the Foundation. It is strongly recommended that you call or e-mail to verify that your recommendations have been received.

Period of Awards

May 15, 2017 – June 30, 2018

The award is for full one year. Study should be completed within this time frame unless other provisions are requested and permitted. It is compulsory for recipients to provide with two copies of any publications and articles resulting from sponsored research.
