The Hermann Paul School of Linguistics at the University of Basel and the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg are inviting applications for Hermann Paul Scholarships in Linguistics. The scholarship holders may start at the earliest on the 1st of August, at the latest on the 1st of October 2019.

About the Scholarship:
  • The doctoral program is international and cross-university: As a doctoral student, you are part of a vibrant and active scientific community on the Upper Rhine.
  • The scholarships in Basel are based on the approaches of the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF).
  • Scholarships are initially awarded for one year and can be extended by up to two years if the project is successfully completed.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold a good to very good degree (MA or equivalent, minimum grade 5.0 according to the Swiss grading system) with a linguistic orientation.

Application may be submitted in electronic form with the following documents:

  • letter of motivation
  • meaningful exposé to the doctoral project
  • CV
  • Certificates (in Basel entitle only the grades “good” or “very good” to the doctorate) in copy
  • typography (linguistic seminar or thesis)
  • An opinion from a professor, a junior professor, a lecturer or another person with a doctoral right and another reference address.

The selection process will take place in April / May, and the acceptance and rejection will be sent no later than June / July.
