The Herzog August Bibliothek is an autonomous research Center offering a wide range of scholarly and cultural program. The library has rich resources of books manuscripts and is able to award fellowships to promote research in the areas of medieval and early modern cultural history. The State of Lower Saxony has effectively started an international and interdisciplinary Senior Fellows Program (postdoctoral fellowship) which will be continued for another two years. The purpose is to bring experienced senior researchers and younger scholars together in the informal atmosphere of the Wolfenbüttel community of guest researchers.
Senior Fellows scholarships are awarded for 1-3 months. Small travel aid is given towards the cost of travelling to and from Wolfenbüttel.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- The fellowship can only be bestowed to a candidate with a doctorate or equivalent scholarly publications.
- Fellowships are awarded with the provision that adequate budgetary means for the stated period of the award are available.
- Fellowships can be taken up on the 1st or the 15th of each month.
- Fellows have to carry out their research in Wolfenbüttel.
- Inevitable short-term absences are to be agreed with the Fellowship Program.
- The fellowship is approved provisionally and can be cancelled if it becomes clear that statements made in the application are incorrect or if the conditions attached to the fellowship are not being met.
- Announcement of changes in the economic status of the fellow after submission of an application must be made and can lead to an alteration of the sum of fellowship.
- Fellows must submit a report at the end of their stay.
