Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) is a National Centre of TIFR dedicated to science and mathematics education from primary school up to undergraduate level. The Centre is seeking skilled and committed natural and social scientists, teachers and communicators holding a doctoral degree to contribute to its programs in the following areas:

  1. Research in Science, Technology and Mathematics Education
  2. Development of Curricula, Laboratories and Materials
  3. Teacher Education and Science Popularisation
  4. Olympiads in science and mathematics
  5. NIUS: National Initiative on Undergraduate Science

Requirements:

  • Applicant must be below the age of 35 years; relaxable for deserving candidates.

How to apply:

  • Apply by enclosing biodata/CV and including the following specific details: Date of birth; Academic record up to Master’s degree; description of PhD Work (01 page); Awards and scholarships; List of publications (with a brief note on the most significant publications); Experience in teaching and science popularization; Names of 2 referees; A comment on the state of science education in the country and suggested improvements (about 250 words); proposal for the project that applicant is planning to take up at HBCSE (about 250 words)

Important note:

  • Applications will be received and screened throughout the year and referees will be contacted for recommendations.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be called for a seminar/ interview at HBCSE.

Fellowship value:

  • The recipient will be offered a Fellowship for 01 years (initially); extendable by one more year.
  • An honorarium of Rs. 47,000/- upwards p.m. plus HRA  upwards per month with 30% HRA
  • Contingency grant of Rs. 32,000/- per annum
  • At the end of the Fellowship, outstanding candidates have a chance to be considered for absorption in the regular academic cadre of HBCSE.
