Overview:

Humanities is a pioneering program of the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School for the Humanities Cologne, co-funded by European Union and University of Cologne in the framework of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (Horizon 2020).

Central to this program are its interdisciplinary approach and obligatory mobility phase.

These ESR positions will have a duration of 36 months per person. The ESRs will be employed full-time by the a.r.t.e.s. Graduate School.

The employment conditions include social benefit payments such as health insurance, unemployment insurance, pension contributions and parental benefits. Please note that, in general, the a.r.t.e.s.

Graduate School will not be able to cover tuition fees.

Conditions / Requirements

Eligible are candidates who meet the following criteria:

  1. “ESR eligibility criteria”: An Early Stage Researcher (ESR) is a researcher who is in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of her/his research career and has not been awarded a doctoral degree.
  2. “MSCA mobility rule”: Depending on the chosen funding line the candidates have to prove that they have not lived for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately preceding the Recruitment Day in Germany (for the funding line “a.r.t.e.s. EU”) or in the respective country out of Europe (for the funding line “a.r.t.e.s. global”)
  3. Qualified Master’s degree or a comparable university degree in a thematically relevant research field of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and a minimum grade of 2.0 (according to the German grading system) of this degree.
