ICRISAT (International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics) invites applications for its National Recruitment for the posts of Research Associate and Field Assistant.
Research Associate
Location: ICRISAT- Patancheru Hyderabad
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Genomics data analysis, specifically on NGS transcriptome data analysis
- Design and implement transcriptomic studies, especially RNAseq experiments including routine wet lab practices like RNA extraction, library construction for RNAseq studies
- Analyze the NGS data with standard open source data analysis pipeline(s) and further interpretation with standard tools
- Contribute to project report writing and preparation of posters, research publications
Requirements:
- Applicant must be proficient in English communication skills (both written and spoken)
- Applicant must have strong knowledge about sequencing technology and data analysis (specially Illumina platform)
- Applicant must have Doctorate in related field like Biotechnology/Genomics/Genetics/Life Sciences with working experience of functional genomics.
- Applicants with one year experience will have an added advantage.
- Applicant must have expertise in Unix/Linux operating systems and administration; some knowledge of statistical analysis languages such as R, programming and scripting languages (either Perl, Python)
- Applicants with publications in related field (RNAseq/NGS) will be preferred

Field Assistant
Location: ICRISAT- Patancheru Hyderabad and reports to Theme Leader – Crop Improvement.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Assist Scientific Officer in collecting and recording the field data and seed preparation
- Field activities such as Weeding, Thinning, Gap Filling, Bird Scaring, Crossing, Rouging, Harvesting, Threshing etc.
- Responsible for storage of seed and seed packing in the crop work area and seed stores
- Responsible for communicating with the TFLs on the standard of work and related activities
- Assist labour in explaining the work for improvement, from time to time
- Assist Scientific Officer in maintaining the database
- Responsible for keeping breeding fields clean on a regular basis
- Assist Research Technicians in any other related activities as required, from time to time
Requirements:
- Applicant must at least hold Intermediate (Preferred)
- Applicant must have good Communication skills (be able to communicate in Telugu, Hindi and English)
- Applicant must have minimum experience 3-4 years’; experience in field work (Weeding, Thinning, Harvesting, Threshing, Seed preparations etc.)
