ICWA fellowship program by The Institute of Current World Affairs
Overview
ICWA wants to cultivate deep expertise in foreign countries & cultures. They achieve that by supporting fellows for two-year immersive programs of self-designed, independent study abroad.
This is a writing fellowship. Selected Fellows are required to produce monthly dispatches made available on ICWA website & email to institute supporters & any other interested parties, including family, friends & professional associates of the fellows. Fellows work closely with the executive director, who serves as writing coach, editor & mentor.
Qualifications / Eligibility
Looking for promise, curiosity, & enthusiasm in their candidates, & consider whether a candidate is ready for the rapid personal growth the fellowship makes possible. Extensive professional experience in the proposed area is not always necessary. Strong candidates generally propose compelling fellowship topics.
- Candidates must be under the age of 36 years at the time of the due date for the initial letter of interest.
- U.S. citizenship is not a requirement, but candidates must show strong & credible ties to U.S. society.
- Applicants must have excellent written & spoken English-language skills & must have completed the current phase of their formal education.
- Necessary language skills to allow to them to carry out their proposed projects.
