IISc invites applications for the position of Instructors in the disciplines of Biology, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Electronics/Computer Science, Humanities Materials and Physics to help to conduct the laboratory courses of the Bachelor of Science (Research) Program.

Type of Position: The above position is purely contractual, and candidates will be hired on a renewable (depending on satisfactory performance) annual contract, with a fixed salary based on experience, for a maximum duration of 5 years.

Salary:

The salary of an Instructor will be fixed in the range of Rs. 52,000-5,000-77,000 per month (consolidated and likely to be revised).

The salary range for a Senior Instructor is 75,000-6,000-1,25,000 (consolidated and likely to be revised). The salary will be fixed based on the experience.

Description: The Instructor would be responsible for the maintenance of the undergraduate laboratories, teaching and conducting laboratory courses in consultation with the subject coordinators and the institute faculty. He/she would also help design and evolve the laboratory/lecture curriculum and may also need to assist in the conduct of tutorial classes, course material preparation (both print and electronic versions) and evaluation of students.

Required Eligibility:

Biology

Ph.D in Biological Sciences with two years of experience

Chemistry

Ph.D. in Chemistry with specialization in Physical/ Inorganic/ Organic Chemistry (desirable) with two years of experience

Earth Science, Atmospheric and Oceanic Science, Environmental Sciences

Ph.D. with two years of experience in the areas of a) Geochemistry with knowledge of aqueous chemistry, isotope ratio mass spectrometry, ion chromatography etc.(desirable). b) Exploration geochemistry and geochemical prospecting

Electronics

Ph. D, with two years of experience and sound programming skills #(in the absence of two years of experience candidates with fresh Ph.D, will be considered) *if a suitable candidate with Ph.D degree is not available then a candidate with ME/M.Tech with sound programming skills, will be considered for Project Associate with a pay range of Rs.33,000-Rs.44,000/- (Consolidated likely to be revised).

Humanities

Ph.D in any one of the disciplines: Sociology, Political Science, History; Economics; (desirable) a multidisciplinary PhD and two years of experience.

Materials

Ph.D. in Materials, Metallurgical, Ceramics, Polymers or Mechanical Engineering with the two years of experience.

Physics

Ph.D in Experimental Physics with two years of experience
