The Faculty of Information Technology (IT), Mathematics and Electrical Engineering at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) have a vacancy for one 4 year PhD fellowship in IT at the Department of Computer and Information Science (IDI)
Research areas:
- Computer Systems (CS)
- Visual Computing (VC)
- Software Engineering (SE)
Duration:
- The position is available for 4 years with duties equivalent to 25%, or 3 years without duties.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must hold master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent with excellent grades
- Applicant must have scored minimum average grade B as measured in ECTS (European Credit Transfer Systems)
- Applicants not proficient in Scandinavian language or not have English as a native language have to provide evidence their proficiency in English (written and spoken).
- The following tests can be used as such documentation: TOEFL, IELTS, CAE, or CPE. Minimum scores required are: TOEFL: 600 (PBT), 92 (IB), IELTS: 6.5, with no section lower than 5.5 (only Academic IELTS test accepted), CAE/CPE: grade B or A.
Applications:
The application must contain:
- CV with applicant’s prior training, exams, and work experience description.
- Statement of Purpose, including a short presentation of the motivation for a PhD study, how the applicant sees his/her background suitable, the applicant’s view of research challenges within one of the areas of the PhD position (Computer Systems, Visual Computing, or Software Engineering), and how the capability of the applicant can contribute to solving these challenges (max. 2 pages)
- Grade transcripts and diplomas (Certified copies)
- At least two reference persons
- copy of the master thesis (in pdf format), or, for those who are near to completion of their MSc, an extended abstract combined with a statement of how and when the applicant plans to complete the thesis (1 page)
