Institute of Integrative Biology offers Postdoctoral Position for 2 years in Ecology at the Department of Environmental Systems Science (D-USYS). The position is in the research group of Prof. Dr. Jonathan Levine, with a flexible joining date. In association with prof, the successful candidate will develop a project combining empirical and theoretical approaches to discover questions in plant population and community ecology.
The main focus of research is flexible and those with plant, non-plant, or theoretical backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Research in the group will carry out investigations on three general problems: the maintenance of species diversity in communities, the determinants of the success and impacts of biological invasions, and plant community response to climate change.
Project explore individual variation, plant traits, interaction networks, and rapid evolution deviate the outcome of competitive interactions. The projects usually combine empirical approaches with mathematical theory to achieve their aims.
The successful candidate will have the prospect to conduct fieldwork in Europe, California, and elsewhere. Work-related communications will be in English. The group currently includes seven postdoctoral researchers, three doctoral students, and four project managers. Other research groups at ETH Zurich and the nearby University of Zurich offer number of opportunities for interaction and collaboration.
