The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Florida International University invites applications to fill a full-time, permanent instructor position in General Chemistry starting in August 2017.
The position requires a PhD degree from an accredited institution in an appropriate field of specialization. Experience teaching undergraduates are preferred. Candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to excellence in teaching. Duties will include teaching General Chemistry, as well as other lower division chemistry courses, coordination of laboratory courses, and supervision of teaching assistants.
The development of curriculum for general chemistry is expected, in addition to teaching courses in an active learning format. Familiarity with online learning management systems is desirable. The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, with 36 faculties, has dynamic and growing Ph.D. programs in Chemistry and Biochemistry supporting over 100 graduate students, as well as a vibrant undergraduate program with ~100 B.A. and B.S. graduates each year. FIU provides a 3 tiered promotion potential for non-tenure earning instructors.
