University of Canberra offers various International Research Scholarships.

Research Training Program (RTP) Stipend Scholarship

The scholarship is funded under the Australian Government Research Training Program (RTP) scheme and is available for future and current international students in all research disciplines.

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be an international student
  • Applicant must enroll or enrolled, as a full-time PhD candidate
  • Applicant must have a minimum First class honours (H1) or be regarded by the University as having an equivalent level of attainment
  • Applicant must not have previously held an Australian Government-funded research scholarship for more than 6 months

Scholarship value:

  • stipend assisting with living costs, ($26,682/annum for 2017; tax-free); overseas health cover (single cover), and an allowance for relocation and thesis production

Duration: up to 3 years

W J Weeden Postgraduate Research Scholarship

This Scholarship is funded by the family of the late W J Weeden. This scholarship is open to domestic and international students.

Benefits:

  • exemption from tuition fees for international students
  • stipend (living allowance) 26,682 per annum 2017 rate, tax free

Duration: up to 3 years

How to Apply:

  • Applicant must provide a full CV
  • Proposal (1,000 word) and two examples of academic writing including one published work
  • Name and contact details of 2 academic referees.

Virus Resistance in Sheep – PhD scholarship

A PhD scholarship is available for a candidate to work on a project with UC and CSIRO supervision, on the investigation of the expression and function of Mx and other genes from the innate immune response in sheep. This project would suit a student with interest and knowledge in virology, immunology and veterinary medicine.

Scholarship value:

  • $26,300 per year

Duration: 3 years; with the possibility of a top-up and establishment support

Eligibility:

  • Applicant must be a domestic student (Australian citizen or permanent resident, New Zealand citizen)
  • Applicant must apply for or currently undertaking a Higher Degree by Research course (PhD, Professional Doctorate, Masters by Research).
