The Dr Edouard Delcroix Prize is an international scientific prize, with a value of 25 000 EUR, which will be awarded to a researcher or a research team for a scientific study on the links between oceans and human health.
The prize has been started in name of Dr Edouard Delcroix, Belgian orthopaedic surgeon and initiated in thalassotherapy. This award, with a net value of 2 500 EUR, will reward for the 1st time the work of an young scientist.
The objective of the Dr Edouard Delcroix Prizes is to encourage basic and applied scientific research which makes a major input to:
- an better understanding of the actual and potential health benefits from marine and coastal ecosystems, e.g. the “Blue Gym” effect, marine biodiscovery, thalassotherapy & functional revalidation in seawater;
- a decrease in the load of human diseases connected with marine environmental effect, e.g. harmful algal blooms and other biogenic toxins, eutrophication, transmission of pathogens and chemical pollutants and the effect of human activities such as aquaculture.
Application Form
The researchers or research teams, whose work may qualify for the prizes, should submit
- a participation form
- a written scientific report
- CV to VLIZ.
The participation form can be downloaded from the VLIZ website. The report may be written in Dutch, French or English and has to be preceded by an abstract in English of 3 pages maximum. Eight printed copies (one of which is not bound) of the participation form, scientific report and cv of the candidates should be in the possession of VLIZ no later than 31 December 2019.
