Wellcome Trust invites application for the Investigator Awards in Humanities and Social Science. These awards offer flexible funding support to researchers in established posts at all career stages working on important questions of relevance to health.

Value: From under £300,000 to around £1 million
Duration: Up to 5 years

Eligibility for Investigator Awards :

  • Applicant can be a researcher at any stage of his/her career (for example a newly appointed lecturer, a mid-career researcher, or a senior or emeritus professor).
  • Applicant must hold an established post.
  • Application will be considered according to the career stage and experience.
  • Applicant must have a permanent, open-ended or long-term rolling contract, salaried by the host organization in the UK, Republic of Ireland or a low- or middle-income country or
  • a written guarantee of an established academic post at a host organization, which applicant will take up by the start of the award.
  • Applicant must also have a statement of commitment from a senior member of the parent organization and a relevant research project.

  • Submit preliminary application via the Wellcome Trust Grant Tracker: application will be assessed (eligibility, suitability and competitiveness), If suitable, shortlisted applicants will be invited to submit a full application.

  • Review and shortlisting: Full applications are shortlisted
  • External peer review: If the proposal is shortlisted, candidate will be asked for written comments from external expert reviewers.
  • Interview
