Investigator Scientist: MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology 819 views

MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology invites applications for Investigator Scientist. The laboratory is pioneer in modern molecular biology and plays an important role in the development of many new techniques, most notably protein crystallography, cryo-electron microscopy, DNA sequencing and monoclonal antibodies. The position is available until 29/02/2020 (Fixed Term). The position will be located at Cambridge.

About the position:
  • The selected candidate will work within the Group of Dr KJ Patel at the MRC Laboratory of Molecular Biology (LMB).
  • The selected candidate will lead one or more projects within an overall programme on DNA repair and its role in stem cell function and cancer suppression.
  • The selected candidate will play a major role in the work of the Research Group, through the conduct of research, introduction of new ideas, dissemination of research results, support and training of others.
  • To be a focus of expertise on the role of two-tier protection against aldehyde-induced DNA damage in stem cells and cancer.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold PhD in a relevant biological subject
  • Significant postdoctoral research experience in aldehyde metabolism, stem cell & cancer biology.
  • Experience of and proven ability to perform techniques relevant to the project, and knowledge of the field; experience in hematopoietic stem cell assays, flow cytometry, genetic manipulation with CRISPR-Cas9, and cancer research.
