International Postgraduate Research Scholarship (IPRS) scheme was established to maintain and develop international research linkages and specifically aims to attract academically brilliant international PG students to areas of research strength in the Australian higher education sector and support Australia’s research effort. Curtin has a number of Strategic International Research Scholarships (CSIRS) available for new future students planning to begin in 2020-21. IPRS are open for both Current and Future Students.

Scholarship Value:
- The International Postgraduate Research Scholarship provides course tuition-fee for 2 years for a Master’s by Research and 3 years for a PhD degree
- Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the recipient and their dependents for the duration of the award.
- Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) valued at $26,288.00 for living allowance.
- This tax-free stipend is given annually.
- Curtin Strategic International Research Scholarship (CSIRS) provides course tuition-fee for 3 years for a PhD degree
- basic single overseas health cover (OSHC) for the recipient
- stipend equivalent to that of the APA valued at $26,288.00/annum tax free for the duration of study
Eligibility requirement:
International Postgraduate Research Scholarship
- Future students: applicant must be an international student (excluding New Zealand)
- Applicant must be studying for first PhD
- Scholarships will be granted on academic merit and research capacity to suitably qualified international graduates.
- Applicants must have gained admission already or have filed an admission application for Research Term
- Applicants must meet admission English language requirement
- Applicant must not hold an AusAID scholarship within two years prior to commencing the IPRS
Strategic International Research Scholarships (CSIRS): For Future Students only
- Applicant must be an international student (not from New Zealand)
- Scholarships are merit base
- Applicant’s research must match with at least one of the Strategic research areas
- Applicant must begin higher degree by research in 2017 for the first time
- Applicant must be studying for first PhD
- Applicants must fulfill English language requirements for the chosen course
