The Princeton University Department of Chemistry seeks a full-time laboratory supervisor in organic chemistry, at the rank of Professional Specialist, beginning January 2021.
- The initial term of appointment is one year, with the possibility of renewal, conditional on performance and the needs of the department.
- The successful applicant
will develop and supervise a modernized curriculum for entry-level organic chemistry laboratory, and will be expected to perform teaching duties that will include observing, preparing and presenting laboratory lectures, leading a lab section(s), writing and grading examinations, meeting with students outside of class time, monitoring teaching assistants, and assigning grades.
- For the teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will carry a secondary rank of Lecturer.
- Course development responsibilities will include a suite of new experiments for a lab for biology and engineering students on organic mechanisms underlying fundamental metabolic reactions that also introduces engineering approaches for analyzing networks of such reactions.
- The candidate will need to observe current laboratory experiments, carry out literature research to identify new experiments, and perform the experiments to prepare for the following academic year.
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates are expected to have completed the Ph.D. in organic chemistry. Preferred qualifications include experience in teaching at the undergraduate level.
