The Max Planck Insititute (MPI) of Immunobiology and Epigenetics in Freiburg, Germany offers a post-doctoral position in bioinformatics in the Department of Chromatin Regulation. The department is headed by Dr. Asifa Akhtar.
Duration: initially for 2 years; may be extended
Tasks involved:
- mechanisms underlying chromatin an epigenetic regulation
- lab uses fly and mouse models employing multidisciplinary approaches such as genetics, biochemistry, functional genomics, single cell analyses as well as cell biology and structural biology
- studying dosage compensation of the male X chromosome in fruit flies, role of non-coding RNAs in gene regulation and epigenetic regulation of cell fate decisions in mammals
Applicant must be enthusiastic, highly-motivated, science-driven and experienced scientist to join the team to reveal the molecular mechanisms that regulate gene expression.
Qualifications:
- Applicant must hold PhD or equivalent doctoral degree with at least 3 years of proven research experience in bioinformatics and analyses of genome wide data (ChIPseq, RNAseq).
- Applicants with prior experience of working with Drosophila or mouse models will have advantage.
- Applicant must hold strong publication record
- Applicant must be able to work in a team; must possess good communication skills and have experience in the supervision of graduate students.
