Max Planck Institute (MPI) for Infection Biology invites applications for a PhD position in Synthetic Biology.
About the project:
- The project aims to establish genome editing tools, such as CRISPR-Cas9, in bacteria to characterize essential cellular processes.
- Under this project the CRISPR-Cas9 for the creation of cells that will lose specific cellular traits during any point of the bacterial life cycle will be used.
Duration: initially 3 years
Starting date: June 1st
Requirements:
- Applicant must hold Diploma or Master’s degree in Biochemistry, Genetics, Microbiology, Molecular Biology or related fields.
- Applicants having some experience in molecular biology, genetics, microbiology and/or genome editing would be considered as an advantage.
- Applicant must possess capability to work in a highly competitive field of research; multi-task and to meet tight deadlines.
- Applicant must hold excellent organizational and coordination skills, structured with personal initiative
- Applicant must possess excellent English communication skills (written and spoken)
Salary: in accordance with the funding guidelines of the Max Planck Society for junior scientists
