The Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History is seeking a post-doctoral researcher (m/f) with a background in comparative-historical linguistics of the Sino-Tibetan area. The postdoc will be a member of the ERC-funded research project “Computer-assisted language comparison (CALC): Reconciling Computational and Classical Approaches in Historical Linguistics”
Project supervisor: Dr. Johann-Mattis List
Starting date: begin on 01.04.2017 or later; actual starting date negotiable
Qualifications requirements:
- Applicant must have strong background in comparative-historical linguistics of the Sino-Tibetan area and experience in the development and application of computational methods in comparative linguistics
- Applicant must also have a strong background in the methodology of historical linguistics
- Applicant must be a strong team player; have great interest and curiosity regarding language change and language evolution
