The Max Planck Institute for Astronomy (MPIA) invites applications for a number of post-doctoral researchers (f/m) to pursue innovative research projects within the scientific context of the Galaxies and Cosmology department.
Research areas:
- stellar atmosphere modelling
- stellar populations and Galactic archaeology from spectroscopic surveys and the Gaia mission
- dynamics, ISM, and star formation in nearby galaxies; galactic nuclei and AGN
- galaxy evolution (observational and theoretical) and high red-shift quasars
Eligibility:
- Applicants must hold PhD in astronomy, astrophysics, or a closely related field.
Duration: initially for 02 years; extension for a 3rd year
Starting date: no later than autumn 2017 (earlier dates may be possible for individual positions).
Benefits: stimulating work environment; funds for publications; computing; travel; Stipend will be on the German public sector scale and depends on qualification and experience
