Description
A 3-year postdoctoral position is available in the Metabolism and Cell Growth group headed by Dr Susumu at the MRC London Institute of Medical Sciences (LMS) based on the Hammersmith Hospital Campus of Imperial College London.
Work Overview:
- The group uses the fruit fly Drosophila melanogasteras a model system to study the systemic interplay between whole-animal metabolism and tumour growth.
- Current research interests in the lab include exploration of the molecular link between diet-induced obesity, tumour growth, and cachexia-like peripheral organ wasting.
- Studies are underpinned by multidisciplinary approaches combining fly genetics, imaging, molecular and protein biology approaches, and high-throughput sequencing.
Required Qualifications
- A PhD in a relevant biomedical discipline and have a strong interest in metabolism and/or cancer biology.
- Extensive experience in fly genetics and molecular biology techniques are essential.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a strong work ethic, meticulous record keeping, and, in addition, develop and carry out his/her own line of research within the group’s areas of interest.
