The Getty Foundation initiated the Multicultural Undergraduate Internship program in Los Angeles to back fundamental, full-time summer work opportunities for college undergraduates from cultural backgrounds that have traditionally been underrepresented in the arts. The internship is aiming to encourage greater diversity in the professions related to museums and the visual arts.
Students will experience in major areas such as curatorship, conservation, education, publications, and related programmatic activities. Candidates are sought from all areas of undergraduate study and are not required to have demonstrated a previous commitment to the visual arts.
Eligibility:
- Applicant must be part of a group underrepresented in museums and visual arts organizations, including, but not limited to, individuals of African American, Asian, Latino/Hispanic, Native American, or Pacific Islander descent.
- Applicant must be currently enrolled undergraduates.
- Applicant must have completed at least Ist semester of college by June 2016.
- Applicants graduating in May or June 2018 are also eligible.
- Applicant must be residing or attending college in Los Angeles County
- Applicant must be a US national or permanent resident.
Terms:
- full-time; 40 hours per week;
- Stipend: $4,500
- Duration: 10 week work period
