National Institute of Animal Biotechnology: Scientist-E position 956 views

National Institute of Animal Biotechnology (NIAB) an autonomous institute under the Department of Biotechnology (GoI) is inviting applications for the Scientists (Scientist -E) and visionary academic leaders with outstanding record of research accomplishments to establish strong centers of research to address the problems of livestock.

Remuneration: Level 13 as per 7th CPC (Grade pay Rs 8,700/- pre-revised)

Age limit: Not exceeding 50 Years

Study areas: Biostatistics with Genomics /Transgenesis /Animal Nutrition

Essential Qualifications:

  • PhD in a relevant area from a recognized University with 5 years of R&D experience in the above mentioned research area after PhD with original work as evidenced by patents or publications in top ranked peer reviewed journals
  • Strong potential for securing and sustaining independent and collaborative extramural funding.

Role and responsibilities:

The selected candidate is expected to provide support to:

  • genetic improvement of livestock using modern tools of genomics, creation of transgenic livestock
  • livestock reproduction/ developmental biology to address reproductive problems in livestock by employing a combination of traditional and modern biological approaches to create new knowledge and for developing novel diagnostics and therapeutic tools for infertility in livestock
  • host – pathogen interactions and identification of novel targets for development of diagnostics, leads for vaccines for zoonotic diseases
  • Animal nutrition, efficient feed utilization etc.
  • To assist the Institute in establishing a bioinformatics centre, teach at PG level.
