NCRA- National Centre for Radio Astrophysics, Pune of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR) is an internationally reputed research institute. NCRA-TIFR has set up two radio telescopes, (Ooty Radio Telescope (ORT) in Ooty) and (Giant Metrewave Radio Telescope (GMRT) in Khodad. NCRA-TIFR is looking for well qualified candidates for the Scientific Assistant-B, Technical Trainee and Administrative Trainees at its Radio Astronomy Centre at Ooty.

Position I: Scientific Assistant-B [Trainee]

No. of Posts: 01

Category: ST+PWD (HH) – The applicant must attach a copy of the certificate issued by the Competent Authority in the recommended format stating the nature and extent of disability.

Location: HQ, Ooty

Stipend: 16,000 per month.

After successful training program, applicant will be absorbed, on probation, as Scientific Assistant-B in PB-2: 9300-34800; GP: 4200

Qualification:

• BSc. (Physics / Electronics), Diploma in Engineering, (Electronics/Electrical and Electronics) with 60% marks in aggregate.
• Knowledge of use of personal computers and its applications.

Nature of job:

• Initial training in electronics or electrical, computer systems and operation of radio telescopes as Trainee for 1 year.
• Bond is to be completed before joining to serve NCRA for at least 3 years after successful completion of training.

Age: Under 43 years for ST+PWD (Hearing Handicapped) (after relaxation)

Position II: Technical Trainee

Location: HQ, Ooty

Stipend: 16,000 per month

Duration: Initial One year to be extended by one year (maximum 2 years, subject to satisfactory performance). No absorption after training.

Qualification:

• Full time B.Sc in Physics, Electronics or Diploma in Electronics or Electrical and Electronics, Radio Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University with a good academic record
• Excellent knowledge in physical sciences and motivation for research.
• Knowledge of computer programming skills desirable.

Nature of Training: Ooty Radio Telescope Operation, Receiver system checking and Data acquisition.

Age: 28 years.

Position III: Administrative Trainee

Category: Unreserved

Location: HQ: Ooty

Stipend: 15000 per month

Tenure: One year. No absorption after training.

Qualification:

• Graduate from a recognized university
• Knowledge of typing and use of personal computers and applications.

Nature of Training: Training in the area of Accounts, General Administration, HR and Purchase.

Desired: Fluency in English (spoken and written)

Age: Below 28 years.

Note: Candidates with Diploma, BE/B.Tech. or higher technical degrees will not be considered for this post.
