Overseas Postdoctoral Visiting Fellowships: Nano Science and Technology 8392 views

Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research offers Overseas Visiting fellowships. The Fellowship is for pursuing post-doctoral research in frontier areas of Nano-Science & Technology. The fellowships are awarded under the Mission on Nano-Science & Technology (Nano Mission) of the Department of Science & Technology (DST), Govt of India. The Fellowship will enable selected Indian researchers in conducting cutting-edge research or experiencing specialized training in international research labs/institutions in the upcoming field.

Number of fellowships: Up to 10 fellowships every year.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The fellowships are open to Indian citizens who have completed their Doctorate degree in India only.
  • Applicant must hold Ph.D degree in Science or Engineering from recognized institutions in India and must apply within 3 years from the award of Ph.D. degree.
  • For researchers who are in regular employment, this 3 year period could be relaxed up to 5 years.
  • The applications must supplemented by an offer or invitation letter from the host institution and acceptance from the potential guide.
  • Preference will be given to those who have not availed any postdoctoral position abroad.
  • The candidates must request 3 referees including Ph.D. guide to send or email their letter with confidential evaluation directly.

Selection:

The DST Nano Mission Overseas Visiting Fellowship Committee will assess the candidates on the concise research proposal in the area of nano-science and technology submitted by the applicant for the postdoc studies.

Fellowship:

  • monthly fellowship of US $ 3000 for one year
  • contingency allowance of Rs.60,000/ to cover visa fee, airport transfer charges, medical insurance etc.(0ne-time payment)
  • Air fare (economy-class) from their place in India to the place of host institution and back.

Duration: 01 (one) year. No bond needs to be furnished by the candidates.

The selected candidates need not be regular employees in Indian institutions.
