Ph.D position at NIOZ Yerseke: NIOZ Yerseke aim to increase our understanding of Estuarine and Delta systems (EDS). Nature-based flood defense (NBFD) invited application for Ph.D position under integrated multidisciplinary research project “Optimizing dike-forest combinations for safety & ecological value – Spatial and temporal variability in stability & ecological values” at the Royal NIOZ Yerseke.
About the Project: This project aimed at understanding how to apply nature-based flood defense making use of woody vegetation. The project will consist of 1 PhD position at the (TUD), this PhD position at NIOZ, and 1 Post-doc at Delft University of Technology (DUT). The project is led by dr. Bas Hofland (TUD) in collaboration with prof. Tjeerd Bouma at NIOZ, dr. Van Wesenbeeck at Deltares.

Duration: For 4 years, a pension scheme, a yearly 8% vacation allowance, year-end bonus
Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have MSc degree in ecology/biology OR physical geography OR engineering with statistical knowledge and interest in combining experimental work, using large data-bases, remote sensing and modelling. Candidates must proficient in spoken and written English. Excellent communication skills and an open collaborative attitude are essential for the success of the project.
