Research Overview: The interdisciplinary Research Training Group “MultiSenses – MultiScales: Novel approaches to decipher neural processing in multisensory integration” is funded by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (GRK 2416).

Project:

1.      Multisensory processes are fundamental in scaffolding perception, cognition, learning, and behavior. However, the structural and functional architecture that underlies the brain’s ability to seamlessly integrate simultaneous multisensory inputs is poorly understood.

2.      Goal of the RTG MultiSenses – MultiScales is to gain a conceptual understanding of the mechanisms that govern crossmodal integration of sensory information at multiple scales.

3.            The program will provide in-depth expertise in sensory neurobiology, foster the spirit of transdisciplinary collaboration, and offer hands-on training in a variety of cutting-edge techniques.

Fellowship Details: Several positions are available, starting October 1, 2018. Each position is funded for a period of 03 years. Given the interdisciplinary character of the RTG, candidates from diverse background (including, but not limited to, life sciences, physics, computer sciences, engineering) should apply.

Qualifications / Requirements

1.Successful applicants should have an excellent Master’s degree (or equivalent) in any of the relevant fields (e.g., biology, physics, chemistry, medicine, computer science, technical acoustics, bioinformatics, modeling, image analysis, etc.).

2.      Fluency in English and a basic understanding / interest in quantitative methods and programming are expected.
