Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology invites applications for a PhD fellowship. The institute offers unique opportunity for a self-driven individual that wish to develop an interdisciplinary and innovative research project in the field of theoretical systems microbiology with a topical focus on cellular information processing, cellular communication networks, cell differentiation or complex microbial behaviors.

Requirements:

  • Applicant must hold Master-level education in the quantitative sciences (either from studying physics, math or computer science or from a biology-oriented program with a quantitative component e.g. systems biology, bioinformatics, biotechnology etc).
  • Candidates keen to study biological systems and become a versatile modeller and/or data analysists are welcome to apply

  • The recipient will be trained in the framework of the graduate research training group on Quantitative Modeling in the Biosciences at the BIOQUANT Center of the University of Heidelberg

Starting date: fellowship is available immediately (winter/spring 2016).
