PhD in Blind Spot at OCS-NIOZ: The Department of Ocean System Research (OCS) invites applications from highly motivated candidates for filling up the PhD in Anthropogenic carbon dioxide uptake and accumulation in the Indian and South Pacific Oceans: a blind spot in recent global monitoring.
About the project: Scholars in the Department Ocean System Research (OCS) study open-ocean processes from a variety of disciplines, ranging from physical and chemical oceanography, marine geology, paleoceanography to deep-sea ecology. In this project, candidates will learn to measure the carbonate chemistry of seawater using state-of-the-art equipment in the laboratory at NIOZ as a part of the GEOTRACES programme.

Location: Royal NIOZ Texel (THE NETHERLANDS)
Duration: 4 years with an excellent salary, a pension scheme, a holiday allowance of 8% of the gross annual salary, a year-end bonus.
Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have master degree in natural science such as – but not limited to – (environmental) chemistry, oceanography, geology or physics and the willingness and aptitude to learn and develop the skills and Proficiency in spoken and written English is essential. Candidates with experience of laboratory work and scientific programming will be preferred.
