PhD in Marine Chemical Ecology at University of Gothenburg: The Department of Marine Sciences, Faculty of Science, University of Gothenburg, conducts teaching and research in various marine fields such as biology, oceanography, chemistry, marine geology, cultural conservation and environmental science. University of Gothenburg invites online applications for filling up the PhD position in marine chemical ecology at the Department of Marine Sciences. This project is centered on chemical alarm signals between marine plankton, copepodamides. The department is located in Gothenburg and at the university’s research stations on Tjärnö and Kristineberg.

About position: This project is focused more on the chemical aspects (determining structures of new signal molecules, field measurements etc.), the biological (the effect of lipid signals in cells, between organisms and on ecosystem level), or the physical and will be working with animal and plant plankton in fields in the laboratory environment.

Position: Ph.D

Duration: 1year and may be renewed for a maximum of two years at a time.

Salary: As per norms.

Educational qualifications: Interested candidates should have master’s degree (or equivalent) in biology, chemistry, physics, or equivalent and Experience in plankton ecology, analytical chemistry, mass spectrometry, image analysis, motion analysis, hydromechanics, programming (eg R, matlab, python etc), field work at sea, and scientific writing / previous publications.
