A PhD position is available in the Carbon Nanobiotechnology group (co-supervised by Prof. Maurizio Prato) at CIC biomaGUNE, and Prof. David Mecerreyes, leader of the Innovative Polymers group at POLYMAT-University of the Basque Country, both in San Sebastián.
The group of Prof. Prato has a wide experience in the functionalization chemistry of carbon nanostructures, exploring new synthetic protocols, new analytical methods and discovering new materials for applications in medicinal chemistry and materials science. Prof. Mecerreyes’ group is specialist in the synthesis of novel polymeric PEDOT materials for bioelectronics.
The objective of this fully-funded 3-year doctoral position is to developed innovative 3D scaffolds based on carbon nanomaterials and conductive polymers for biomedical applications. The successful candidate will work in an international environment and will be enrolled in the PhD School of Chemistry at the University of the Basque Country (UPV/EHU).
We are looking for a highly motivated PhD candidate with the following requirements:
- Be in possession of a Master Degree in Chemistry (MSc Chemistry) with above average results.
- Good theoretical background and ample experience in organic synthesis and chemistry of materials are essential.
- Additional experience and knowledge in electrochemistry, polymer chemistry, characterization techniques and nanotechnology are highly welcomed.
- Excellent knowledge of the English language (spoken and written).
