The Department of Molecular Embryology, research group of Prof. Dr. Christian Schachtrup (Heisenberg Professor), is offering a PhD Position.

Research interest focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving neural stem cell and astrocyte fate in an altered extracellular environment upon CNS injury or disease with blood-brain barrier opening. The PhD position will strongly focus on the molecular mechanisms of blood-derived factors on neural stem cells differentiation in the context of neural stem cell transplantation in CNS disease in an international cooperation project (Wings for Life Foundation).

Qualifications / Requirements

1.       Applicants should hold a master degree in molecular medicine, biology, chemistry or any related disciplines, preferably with a strong background in molecular biology, neuroscience or signaling processes.

2.       Candidates with prior hands-on experience working with animal models for CNS diseases, such as trauma or stroke will be given priority.
