PhD position in Neuroregeneration/Neural Stem Cell Biology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität, Germany
Duration: 01 Jul 2019 for 3 years
Field of Research: Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Medicine
Subjects: Neuroscience
Description
The Department of Molecular Embryology, research group of Prof. Dr. Christian Schachtrup (Heisenberg Professor), is offering a PhD Position.
Research interest focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms driving neural stem cell and astrocyte fate in an altered extracellular environment upon CNS injury or disease with blood-brain barrier opening. The PhD position will strongly focus on the molecular mechanisms of blood-derived factors on neural stem cells differentiation in the context of neural stem cell transplantation in CNS disease in an international cooperation project (Wings for Life Foundation).
Qualifications / Requirements
1. Applicants should hold a master degree in molecular medicine, biology, chemistry or any related disciplines, preferably with a strong background in molecular biology, neuroscience or signaling processes.
2. Candidates with prior hands-on experience working with animal models for CNS diseases, such as trauma or stroke will be given priority.
Application Procedure
Applications should include a CV with a cover letter, statement of research experience/interests as well as teaching experience, and should arrange that recommendation letters of two references will be sent to:
