PhD on modeling of biocomposite processing at Chalmers: The Department of Industrial and Materials Science, Chalmers invites online applications from experienced researcher for PhD student position on modeling of biocomposite processing directed by Prof Lars Berglund at Wallenberg Wood Science Center, Dept of Fiber and Polymer Technology, KTH. This position will at the Division of Engineering Materials, Department of Industrial and Materials Science at Chalmers working in close cooperation with the R&D team at Stora Enso, will focus on the development of methodologies and procedures for material characterization, process modeling and optimization of processing flows, with a focus on extrusion.

About position: The project symbolizes a strong industrial drive through a Stora Enso – Chalmers cooperation. The Cellulose Biocomposites project is a multidisciplinary effort exploring new opportunities for nanostructured cellulose materials. Research towards new materials and processing concepts is performed, including a sustainability perspective.

Position: Ph.D.

Duration: 5 years which includes teaching duties for 20% of the time.

Salary: As per norms.

Educational qualifications: Interested candidates must have a master’s level degree corresponding to at least 240 higher education credits in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, materials science or related fields/relevant field with verbal and written communication skills in Swedish and English.
