PhD position in 3D nanofiber at University of Basel: Basel is a city university (oldest university in Switzerland) with international flair (bordering France and Germany). The University of Basel invited application from eligible highly motivated and enthusiastic PhD student interested in working on the generation of engineered patches for cardiac tissue repair for filling up PhD position “ Directional 3D nanofiber network to mimic in-vivo myocardial syncytium towards guiding contraction patterns in in-vitro heart models (P1902)” to work on development and 3D bioprinting of cell laden hydrogels for cardiac tissue engineering.
About position: Selected candidate will join an attractive interdisciplinary PhD programme (including cutting edge quantum physics and chemistry, material science, nanotechnology, biochemistry, cell biology, or medical research) together with the ~30 currently supported scientists This multidisciplinary PhD project in nano science with a spotlight on cardiac tissue bioengineering aims to mimic the Purkinjie fibers by executing an electrically conductive and organized nanotube network into the engineered myocardial tissue.

Educational qualifications: Interested candidates must have a master’s degree in relevant subject area with excellent oral communication skills, Fluency in English and ability to learn specific, practical techniques and apply this knowledge to solve technical problems. Candidates having master’s degree in engineering, physics or biotechnology will be preferred.
