PhD Position in Animal Science at SLU: The Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU) develops the understanding and sustainable use and management of biological natural resources. Department of Animal Breeding and Genetics, SLU invited application for filling up the PhD Position in Animal Science available at the Beijer Laboratory. The aims of this position is to make better use of data automatically collected at high-tech farms so that supervision and reproduction of future generations of dairy cows may be as economical as possible.
Project: ‘Precision livestock breeding – improving both health and production in dairy cattle’
About the Positions: The aim this research is to improve both animal welfare and animal production by focusing on improvement of the social environment of animals. Selected candidates will work with data on dairy cattle, obtained from sensors and milking robots, in order to quantify social interactions and select for indirect genetic effects.

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have Master degree in biology, strong background and sound knowledge of data management and genetics/ a background in data management with sound knowledge in biology with Good ability to communicate in written and spoken English.
