PhD Position in Archaeology at Max Planck Institute: Department of Archaeology at the Max Planck Institute invites online applications from eligible bright candidate for Phd position in South American megafaunal ecologies, diets, and mobilities to work on LASTJOURNEY project under by Prof. Iriarte funded by Advanced Grant of the prestigious European Research Council.

About the Position: Selected candidates will work in a leading global centre for archaeology, the Department of Archaeology at the MPI-SHH and  analyze the resulting samples from megafauna, and other associated animals, for different isotopic parameters in order to reconstruct changes in diet, environment, and migration patterns of different taxa across space and time.

Educational qualifications: Interested candidates should have master degree in Archaeology, Archaeological Science, Geochemistry, Earth Sciences, Palaeontology with Knowledge of Late Pleistocene ‘megafauna’ extinctions and Archaeology, Experience in fieldwork or working with museum connections for significant periods of time. Candidates with strong Spanish language skills, Knowledge of Archaeology in South America, Practical and theoretical experience of isotopic approaches to Archaeology and Palaoeontology will be preferred.
