The Department of Engineering and Information Technology at Bern University of Applied Sciences is inviting applications for a PhD Position in Biomedical Engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Derive a computationally efficient model for parametric Analysis
- Explore sophisticated feedback control approaches and model-based optimization algorithms
- Setup an experimental test bench including a dedicated control system, power amplifier and laser doppler vibrometers
- Develop and characterize ultrasonic transducer prototypes
- Perform extensive in vitro tests on biofilm models
Requirements:
- A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Microtechnology with specialisation in mechatronic Systems
- A solid background in feedback control and electronic Engineering
- Knowledge in the modelling and simulation of electromechanical systems and in programming (MATLAB/Simulink or Python)
- Practical experiences with piezoelectric transducers and enthusiasm to conduct applied Research
- Strong writing and communication skills in English, while French or German is a plus
