The Department of Engineering and Information Technology at Bern University of Applied Sciences is inviting applications for a PhD Position in Biomedical Engineering.

Responsibilities:
  • Derive a computationally efficient model for parametric Analysis
  • Explore sophisticated feedback control approaches and model-based optimization algorithms
  • Setup an experimental test bench including a dedicated control system, power amplifier and laser doppler vibrometers
  • Develop and characterize ultrasonic transducer prototypes
  • Perform extensive in vitro tests on biofilm models

Requirements:

  • A master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Microtechnology with specialisation in mechatronic Systems
  • A solid background in feedback control and electronic Engineering
  • Knowledge in the modelling and simulation of electromechanical systems and in programming (MATLAB/Simulink or Python)
  • Practical experiences with piezoelectric transducers and enthusiasm to conduct applied Research
  • Strong writing and communication skills in English, while French or German is a plus
