PhD Position in COPD at Maastricht University: Maastricht University is well-known for its unique, innovative, problem-based learning system, which is considered by a small-scale and student-oriented approach. Department of Medical Microbiology at Maastricht University invited applications for filling up PhD position at FHML/NUTRIM/Department of Medical Microbiology: REspiratory microbiome & clinical Data AnaLysis for the prediction of acute exacERbaTions in COPD(REDALERT). COPD is a devastating chronic lung disease for which no curative treatments.

About Project: Selected candidates will work with aim to get further insight in the role of the respiratory tract microbiome composition in the prediction  and treatment options to prevent exacerbations in COPD and will be followed up for exacerbations and state of the art molecular techniques will be used to analyse the microbiome composition.

Educational qualifications: Interested and eligible candidates must have master’s degree in molecular Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, or relevant topic with knowledge of microbiome research in general also have interest in molecular or microbiological lab work. Experience with statistical software packages like SPSS, SAS or R is must for this position.
