The Department of Mathematics at University of Bergen (UiB) is a vacancy for a PhD position in Data Science. The position is for a fixed-term period of 4 years.
About the position:
- The candidate will work on relevant topics within the fields of machine learning, data science and Big Data.
- The candidate will also be affiliated with the newly established Center for Data Science (CEDAS) at UiB. CEDAS advances the state of the art in data science fundamentals, based on competence from statistics and computer science.
- The candidate will benefit from its multidisciplinary work environment.
- The candidate will be associated with the Statistics or the Topological Data Analysis group.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must hold a master’s degree or equivalent education in Statistics, Computer Science or Mathematics.
- Master students can apply provided they complete their final master exam before 31.10.2020. It is a condition of employment that the master’s degree has been awarded.
- Experience from Statistics, Topology or Data Analysis is an advantage.
- Applicants must be able to work independently and in a structured manner and demonstrate good collaborative skills.
- Applicants must be proficient in both written and oral English
