PhD Position in Genetics at University of Gothenburg: Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg, conducts teaching and research in various fields such as chemistry, molecular biology, drug chemistry, biology, marine sciences and the pharmacy program. University of Gothenburg invites online applications for filling up the PhD position in genetics under Prof. Marc Pilon’s research group at the Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, Gothenburg. The group is located on the medical campus, near the Sahlgrenska Hospital in Gothenburg and collaborates with several local groups.

About position: Selected candidates are expected to conduct independent research on molecular mechanisms that contribute to membrane homeostasis in C. elegans and mammalian cell models. Prof. Marc Pilon’s research group uses several complementary experimental systems and relies heavily on forward genetic screens using the nematode C. elegans, experiments in cultured mammalian cells and some physiological studies in mouse models.

Position: Ph.D

Duration: 4 years.

Salary: As per norms.

Educational qualifications: Interested candidates should have master’s degree (or equivalent) in Natural Science with a specialization in chemistry, biology or biophysics. Candidates are also required to master English in speech and writing at an acceptable level. As a benchmark, 550 points apply to TOEFL tests.
