PhD position in Molecular Virology 2227 views

The Department of Chemistry, Biochemistry and Pharmaceutical Sciences at University of Basel is inviting applications for a PhD position to join the virology group. The virology group works on the molecular mechanisms of host cell invasion by parvoviruses. The group also studies the mechanisms of virus inactivation and removal, which is important for the safety of plasma-derived medicinal products.

Requirements:

• Applicant must be a highly motivated student with a M.Sc degree in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or similar (ideally molecular virology) and the ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.
• The aim of the research project is to deepen our understanding of the mechanisms of virus invasion through the airway epithelium and endothelial barriers.
• The position is for 4 years, salary according to Swiss National Science Foundation guidelines.
